Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2012 Paris

completely out of order. sorry about that.

We'll see this in a lot of editorials, crocodile and long gloves are on trend this season.

A safe Oscar bet

Pretty sure Giambattista Valli did this last season

Joan from Mad Men would look ravishing in this

This rocks!

  1. I'm just going to say I'm a little over the sheer trend.

Now that I've got that off my chest, parts of this show are amazing. The red piece on Liu Wen(?) is amazing and the mostly black patterned off the shoulder look is so darling. Love it.

The Floor length gowns are amazing and I love the purples, especially the sheer (yes I know what I said before, just a little over it) with the implied boning design. Gorgeous.

I prefer the more fitted knee-length gowns over the romantic A-line skirts(oddly enough)and I'm drooling over the off white number with the large bow at the waist and touch of purple embellishments.

The structured A-line dress is so amazing. I actually gasped when I saw it. Amazing. The other structured gowns are dashing as well. Especially the black and white toned, layered looks. (confusing enough?)

The down sides of the show would be the beige and brown looks, they are atrocious. Burn!!! The head pieces are so wrong it hurts. Literally. The shapes get a little old after a while, as does the plaid. I'm not big on plaid/harringbone but it looks okay once in a while. But I feel it's overused here. Just my opinion.
Also there is a feel that I've seen these dresses before and that not a good sign.

Overall I think that this show is a nice transition from the last couture show. The shapes are similar and there are some aspects of the tricked out costumes but this show is solid. The vision is clear, although I feel it is a little weak, and the show flows well(Or I imagine it would since the outfits aren't in order).

My guilty pleasure would be the sheer(shuddup) A-line look with white pleats, black layers, stripes, collar and pocket details, and just too much going on. I really like it and I know that it's a Fashion Nightmare, but I just love it.

  2. I'm just not feeling Dior anymore. Maybe a few looks are pretty but this came off as old and boring. Sad, since my blog name is Ma Cherie, Dior. Ma Cherie, Haider Aickermann doesn't roll off the tongue the same way.

  3. Well. I agree that the show looks boring. Individually the pieces will look good I think. I mean I liked it. But I do see boring.

Haider Aickermann is amazing. New Blog title perhaps?
